History Of Landon Trophy
|
Landon Trophy was started over 20 years ago by Jack (Rick)
Landon, father of the current owner Brett Landon. It
originated from a request from a co-worker interested in
inexpensive awards for youth baseball. The "business" was
only a hobby at that time dedicated to providing quality
awards and affordable prices for all youth organizations in
the Rochester Area.
Our first awards were hand produced bases with medal
figures. Quickly we moved to walnut bases once we
established suppliers that could met our needs. In the early
years Landon Trophy was only a hobby focused on providing
youth organizations in the Rochester area with quality
awards at an affordable price.
Soon we were providing other organizations with trophies and
were still putting all the profits into providing youth with
quality awards. Our slogan at this time was:
"A purchase from Landon Trophy is a
purchase for our youth"
The "business" grew for next eight years. It had
become a small business with several major yearly accounts
and well outside a hobby. It was a part-time job with a good
income.
Then it was interrupted by a three year work assignment in
Europe. During this time the "business" ceased. On return
all our previous customers had new trophy suppliers so the
"business" became a true hobby. Only a few accounts were
picked up and kept over the next several years. There was
never any attempt or desire to grow the company at that
time.
In 19xx Brett Landon decided to take the hobby and build it
back into a "business". Many new customers and accounts were
picked up and the company has slowly grown into a complete
business.
Under Brett's managements the company has interfaces to
graphic arts, screen printing, engraving shops, and major
trophy parts providers in the country. Brett has also
established, and continues to establish, franchises around
Minnesota and Iowa area.

The original LOGO for Landon Trophy. |

| The Landon Trophy Logo was changed to the
divided color circle above later when we expanded
our awards to included the high school programs. The
circle represents the colors of all the high school
teams. |

WHERE DID THAT COME
FROM?
The Name LANDON TROPHY was actually selected by our
Hermes salesman. After purchasing a pantograph
engraver, we needed to establish contacts in the
trophy business. Our sales person instructed us to
print a dozen business cards with LANDON TROPHY on
them and join him at a trade show. (You needed a
business card to get into the trade show to prove
you were a legitimate business). The name stuck. |
